Day 11 : Hanle

Previous

Home

The next day we got up early, parked and covered our bikes and got our stuffs into the scorpio. We picked but the necessary things like Water bottles, biscuits, sleeping bags etc and left the others in a room and left to Karu for break fast. Filled our tummy with hot hot alu parathas and left towards Hanle. As soon as we moved towards hanle the Landscape changed abruptly into multi-colored Mountains. This will make the traveler believe that Himalayas is THE most active mountain ranges.

Few mountains will give an impression that they were 'swallowed' by the neighboring mountains.

Man I cant explain that let the pics speak.

This is not a dam or a river or a check dam. Its the very road that we need to travel. ;)
As we neared the Mahe Bridge the landscape turned green.
One should take a right from this road to enter Korzak.
Or continue towards Hanle for Tso Moriri
As we continued towards Hanle the mountains lokked more barren and more young. It gives a feel like its always ready for a landslide. Its untouched or rather untamable
Tilt you head to your rightThe only living creature that you can see after miles of traveling
At times the river beside us gave a feel that its bed is rugged and gave a roar and at times its as smooth as silk. But ya gave fear that it has quick sands in it. The mountains were still barren and no snow on its cap
There were a few green areas too, which will be followed by a small village. As time passed we desperately started searching for hanle. So if our spots any building at the top of a hill. The cameras came to play with full zoom to check if its The Hanle Observatory. One such occasion is seen above. The textures changed from Green to barren and back to green many a time
The River became narrow, which means that soon we will see the source i.e the snow caps, which will also mean that we are increasing on Altitude and decreasing on temp. ya here it comes the forst view of the snow caps
And from here on for about another 40 kms the tarred roads end and its all liek this on which we need to travel. We missed the bikes a lot but good for them that they missed this. :)
>Sorry for the reflection of the tissue roll :)
After sand sand and sand. the snow capped mountains looked to be nearer. and soon we saw the wild Yarks

Soon after that we were back to sand and Dust. Check the dust trails left behind buy our scorpio

Check the telephonic wires :)

Hurray!!! First sight of HUman

Rain at a distance

again back to sand and Dust

Another Check with 24x zoom. nope this is not Hanle. May be a old palace?

rain was always a threat

Hippee!! Reached Hanle :)
