day2 Om Beach - Hubli - bangalore

Day 2:
The plan was to get up early by 5;30 go the beach and leave gokarna by 7... but we both felt a bit tired and we need to fo 550 km back in the unknown roads... so decided to sleep a bit more and cancel the beach walk.. atlast woke up by 7 got fresh within few mins.. went down to had break fast and was decide to head forward by 8:30.. when we came near our bikes The tank gaurd of the comet was a bit tappered by the folks... SUmit was a bit upset then was up within few secs... he corrected a bit himself.. When Istarted my rpm meter was not working.. checked a few cables but no help.. so left it free and we both headed towards the pump... but jus after a few meters it started working again.. and Sumit pointed it out at the bunk..


Topped up and moved tomwards angola... We bth were a bit worried as we need to take the bad roads again.. but to our surprise the road after gokaran was not so bad.. we could do 80s easily but ofcourse a potholes appeared in groups every few kms... (hmm... if we had know this before we would ve gone to karwar itself :rooleyes:... anyways Om beach was not bad..




Reached angola and took a right turn towards hubli... The road was good wode and ofcourse few a few meteres of bad roads appeared every 3-5kms.. The jungle was quite thick... Guess the road is the usual truck route to karwar.. as we would spot some 400 trucks in the strech of 50 kms... After some 80 kms.. took a butt break inthe jungle..



Then contd our ride.. after the jungle the ghats started... as soon as the ghats started there was 3 continuous bit a sharp turns... and we coudl spot trucks "somersaulted" in all the 3 turns...



became a bit cautious then... the ghats were good but didnt didnt try any sharp cornering.. The roads always threatened to turn rude and the truck traffic was quite heavy...
reached yellavanpur-idugunchi and then hubli by 2.. the board said 406 km to banglore on NH4...

It was quite boring to drive on NH4.. full straight and flat.. maintained a speed of 105-120.. and ocasionally dropping to 80s for the bike to cool.. THe bull behaved soo well.. no probs at all.. was every much releaved..
and Super biker Sumit(thats how we call him @office) really really missed his bandit...


after hubli we searched for a shade to relax but didnt find any for 80kms then deiced to park the bikes up and get into feilds for shade..
time around 2:30 and 320 kms left...





After a 15min butt break and emptying the slice bottles.. contd again.. I really felt like hiring a monkey to hold the throttle..(as someone signature ways ) reached A1 plaza arnd 3;00 for lunch..the first eat out after 120kms had rottis nans + chicken..summit top up fuel but I didnt I wanna check my mileage too.. the board said 299kms, Time 4:20pm I put my ipods on to keep me happy and rode again.. I felt that the songs where all not full.. I crused my frnd for it... then latter realised that they were all full but may be I slept in between..
Cornering on NH4... not even a couple of inches used...






After a good 1;10hrs of ride we stopped for another butt break... time:5:40... As soon as we stopped the sunset started could early click mice snaps then... yes we were lucky to stop then...





After this place the roads were bad esp within towns and the truck traffic started again... reached chitradurga by 8:00 only but after chitradurga.. the roads were perfectly lit.. with reflects dividing the lanes.. the wrong side they shine red.. the roads were well guard from the cattle threat.. but who will educate the locals to cross safe.. both of us were little @#$% when a guy walked across and a truck took a U-turn.. but ya I learnt That min stopping distance of the bull is almost 25m from 110kmph ?!?!
we bothed clicked our max tripmeter reading..





I had to fuel up jus before tumkur.. as I had jus 1L left above reserve the bulls milage was 38-40kmpl
We reached tumkur A1 by 9:50 had a leasure dinner... we started back by 11 and reached home by 12:20.. and went to bed with a bit of pride and smile..

this was the last pic taken at A1.. they really did a good job and made a very succesful trip... hats off to them..

Scratched my foor peg, shoe and the rear crash gaurd a few mm away from the ground... and woke up at the right time....
This gave us immense confidence... now we understand why ppl were gazing at us round the corners... we both didnt knew that we were doing it soo well..

After all the cornerings, there said the board - "Ghat road ends".. from there on there was mixed strentch of single lane and 2 lane roads.. that to fight with the bus guys for little space... and then reached Honavara byy 4:30... we where well ahead of schedule




Then we rode north on NH17 towards Karwar.. The roads were good for some 10 km.. then it started full of pot holes.. then we cold see only stones everywhere.. The sun too was setting.. we didnt wanna miss the sunset.. so took a left towards gokarana... and reached there by 5:30
Guess its the konkan Railways






Then tried to check the availability of rooms.. found that many rooms were still available to decided to view the sunset at om beach and return back.. The path was hilly good and narrow roads... then we stoped at the highest point posible and enjoyed the sunset...



Tried something.. was excellent but at the last moment I brought my hands a bit down...


Then parked the bikes in a guest house(namaste) and then walked down to beach.. tried to get some beach side rooms but all were full.. sat for a while onthe rocks made calls to home...
didnt feel like getting into the sea.. as it was very calm with no waves... around 7:30 came from the shore to shore cafe.. had some water and juice... went back to gokarna and checked in.. The climate there was too humid that we went for AC rooms.,, sat for some time.. then walked down the street had some chappathi with chicken curry...
then came back and dived into the beds...
